To someone who isn't familiar with Jesus, God, and the Bible, the above questions may sound like three different things, but they are all the same. And it is the most important thing in your entire life that you can do.
In the Bible, Romans 3:23 states "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
We are all born sinners - every one of us. Jesus is the only person who has never sinned. God sent us Jesus, who was without sin, to die on the cross and free us from the burden of our sins if we would only put our trust in him.
You've probably heard this verse before, and that is because it is the most important verse you will hear in your entire life - John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
All it takes is simple prayer such as this, "Jesus, I thank you for dying on the cross for my sins so that I might have everlasting life. I believe in you and want to live my life for you. I am sorry for my past sins and want you to come into my heart. Amen."
You don't have to say anything fancy or eloquent - God knows who you are and loves you just the same. Once you ask him into your heart and begin living for the Lord, you can have the assurance that a wonderful life in heaven is waiting for you once your time on Earth is over.
Wondering what to do next? A good start would be to pick up a Bible and begin reading the New Testament. Start at the beginning of the New Testament in Matthew and read it through. If you don't already attend a church, choose one and go this Sunday! Feel free to talk to the pastor after the sermon is over, and he should be able to answer any questions you might have.
