He went on to explain that it's easy for non-Christians to ignore the word "God" because it can mean so many things. (of course when speaking they can't see that the "God" we are speaking of is capitalized!) Non-Christians hear "God" and their mind interprets it as the gods of many religions, pagan supreme beings, magical higher powers, Starbucks, iPhones, and so forth.
When you use the name "Jesus" - well, that gets their attention. There is no ignoring, distorting, or misinterpreting who is being discussed when using Jesus' name.
Have a blessed week!

I love this idea-- and do it on a regular basis in normal conversation. I say things like "I am working for Jesus dollars" (since I am doing unpaid ministry as of right now) and talk about things like Jesus time, etc.
ReplyDeleteNot only does it wake people up, but it really seems to warm them up to the idea of our loving Christ that walked the earth! Thanks for this awesome reminder!
Wow...such a simple thing yet it can do so much. I'm going to start doing that! :) Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteWonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteI had never considered this before! But it makes perfect sense. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery true. I have actually begun doing the same thing. IF I'm in a different nation [such as Morocco a dozen years ago] when it would cause serious issues, then I would be more cautious about my word choice. But, overall, Jesus is the Word that counts. And you posted a good reminder for all of us.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
I try to do this as much as possible! My kids always say "Jesus is God mom." I always say that they all don't know that and I want to make it clear who my God is!
ReplyDeletePraise Jesus!

Often, I refer to God by Jehovah God, just to keep things clear - because these days, "God" does mean anybody's god and not God the Father.
